2.4 Order of precedence. Unless otherwise noted herein or in the contract, in the event
of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cited, the text of this document
takes precedence. Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and
regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained.
3. REQUIREMENTS
3.1 First article. When specified in the contractual document or purchase order (see 6.2),
a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection in accordance with 4.2.
3.1.1 Radiographic examination. Radiographic examination in accordance with 4.3.3.3
shall be conducted on first article samples that are to be subjected to the Functioning Test, prior
to the execution of the Functioning Test in accordance with Table II. Radiographic examination
data shall not be used to accept/reject this system.
3.2 Conformance inspection. A sample of M2A4 shaped charges shall be subjected to
conformance inspection in accordance with 4.3.
3.3 Material. Materials and parts shall comply with drawings cited in 4.3.2.1 4.3.2.9.
3.3.1 Specific gravity of booster. The specific gravity of the booster shall be minimum
1.50 when tested in accordance with 4.3.3.1.
3.3.2 Average weight of loading assemblies. The average weight of the loading
assemblies shall be not less than 10.1 lbs when tested in accordance with 4.3.3.2 (Minimum 10
lbs of Comp B plus 48 grams of booster material).
3.4 Assemblies. The assemblies shall comply with all requirements specified on
8861565, and with all requirements specified in referenced specifications.
3.5 Functioning test. The loaded 15 lb Shaped Charge shall detonate high order when
initiated by a M6 or M7 blasting cap or equivalent military initiation device.
3.6 Workmanship. All parts and assemblies shall be clean and free of explosive on
exterior, chips, cracks, crazes, dirt, grease, rust, corrosion products, and other defects and foreign
matter which would affect their serviceability. The cleaning method used shall not be injurious
to any part or assembly nor shall the cleaning agent contaminate them. Exterior surface coatings
shall be continuous except for a few light scratches not exposing the base material. All required
markings shall be neat and sharply defined.
