MIL-DTL-45468F(AR)
3.7 No fire (critical). The M6 cap shall not be initiated by an electric current of not less
than 0.20 Ampere and not greater than 0.21 Ampere for the duration of 5 seconds.
3.8 Waterproofness. The M6 blasting cap shall function after submersion in water for
not less than 4 hours at not less than 65°F and not greater than 75°F when the water is under a
pressure of not less than 50 pounds per square inch (gauge).
3.9 Functioning. The M6 blasting cap shall be capable of initiating high-order when
tested in the following methods.
3.9.1 Ampere initiation of single cap. The M6 blasting cap shall be initiated when an
electric DC current of not greater than 0.45 Ampere is applied to the lead wires for not greater
than 50 milliseconds.
3.9.2 Milliwatt-second initiation of single cap. The M6 blasting cap shall be initiated
when electrical energy of not greater than 18.3 milliwatt-seconds and not less than 16.3
milliwatt-seconds is applied to the lead wires for not less than 10 milliseconds and not greater
than 24 milliseconds.
3.9.3 Fire conditions for fifty (50) caps in series. Fifty (50) M6 blasting caps connected
in series through the full lengths of their leads shall be initiated by the application of a current of
not less than 1.40 and not greater than 1.60 Ampere for not less than 1.5 and not greater than 1.6
milliseconds.
3.9.4 Fire conditions for four (4) caps in series. Four (4) M6 blasting caps connected in
series through the full lengths of their leads shall be initiated by the application of electrical
energy of not more than 0.3 Joule for not greater than 100 milliseconds.
3.10 Marking performance and durability. Performance and durability of marking inks
shall meet the requirements of the ink's respective specification.
3.11 Workmanship. All parts and assemblies shall be clean and free of chips, burrs,
sharp edges, dirt, grease, rust, corrosion products, and other defects and foreign matter which
would affect their serviceability. The cleaning method used shall not be injurious to any part or
assembly nor shall the cleaning agent contaminate them. Exterior surface coatings shall be
continuous. All required markings shall be neat and sharply defined. Required packing shall be
dry.
